THE COLEGIO MENOR SAMBORONDÓN HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

At Colegio Menor Samborondón High School, our world-class teachers work closely with students to build on the skills they’ve already mastered, nurture the development of their character, and put them on the pathway to higher education success. Unique to our private High School in Guayaquil, we also offer the Advanced Placement program, which enables our young people to develop their talents ahead of college.

OUR HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC MODEL

We offer a comprehensive liberal arts education at our High School in Samborondón. Our curriculum is the best preparation for further and higher education, as our students take outstanding classes in English and Spanish Language Arts, Art, Music, Theater, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education, STEAM, and Social Studies (both in English and Spanish). Our students also take part in a variety of electives, including those within our Advanced Placement program.

As you’d expect, we set the highest standards for our High School curriculum. We hold Cognia accreditation and monitor our learners through standardized testing. Through MAP (Language, Reading, Math, Science, and Spanish) and BADYG (Skills) assessments, we ensure testing is fully personalized to each student.

OUR ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM

Colegio Menor Samborondón is the only High School in Ecuador authorized by the US College Board to teach the Advanced Placement (AP) program. This program is used by schools in more than 100 countries and is the ideal way to prepare learners for college. This is because it enables them to follow university-level courses – and gain credits – in a wide range of specialized subjects.

Our AP program features more than 30 courses. Popular subjects include Computer Science, Music, Math, History, and both English and Spanish languages and literature.

COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING

Colegio Menor Samborondón’s High School College Counseling program guides our students and their families through the university search and application process.

Selecting a college or university is one of the most important decisions your child will make, and we offer extensive guidance and services to ensure they achieve their goals. Our program includes one-to-one, family, and group sessions, career forums, college fairs, and guided internship experiences.

CARING IN OUR COMMUNITY

We’re passionate about caring for those in need – and engaging with our local community here in Samborondón, Guayquil. Through our Community Service Program, for example, High School students plan, fund, and run a Saturday School initiative, sharing their knowledge and skills with local children. Economics and Civics class projects, meanwhile, raise funds to help with the costs of building houses in communities on the coast.

Working with our Student Government, each High School grade also develops an annual fundraising project that contributes to the development of our local partner school. So far, we’ve helped to launch their preschool and construct a water sanitation system, as well as providing school supplies and holiday food boxes.

ACADEMIC TRIPS

Colegio Menor Samborondón’s High School students take part in a range of local and overseas trips, depending on the electives they choose. These include music tours, international competitions, sports events, and exchange programs.

As part of the Nord Anglia Education family, we also offer global expeditions to Switzerland and Tanzania, summer experiences, and regional events. These include the Global Games competition in Florida, Model United Nations conferences, and annual festivals.
