At our Playgroup, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Samborondón, Guayaquil, students discover a lifetime love of learning through hands-on activities and personalized lessons, all taught in English. OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMME

Colegio Menor Samborondón offers an outstanding Kindergarten and Early Childhood program in Guayaquil.

At this formative stage in our students’ education, we create exciting opportunities and interactions that immerse them in English. These initial experiences are designed to help them to naturally acquire and develop their English skills. Every lesson is fun and truly experiential, ensuring our children develop the vital skills and understanding they need to succeed at Lower School and beyond.

Importantly, we also seek to instill strong values in our children. Our Character Counts Early Childhood program has six pillars that we weave through all our lessons. The pillars are responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, and citizenship.

the teaching and learning model

Colegio Menor Samborondón’s Early Childhood program specialists carefully prepare each lesson and activity to ensure they feature key learning elements. These include language learning experiences, early literacy skills for reading and writing, math activities, sensory exploration, physical education, scientific experiences, creative expression, and opportunities to develop social skills and emotional values.

We deliver these experiences in classes that are divided into distinct learning centers. These include blocks, manipulatives, reading, writing, sand and water tables, art, and dramatic play. With our teachers’ guidance, our children develop independence, a sense of curiosity, a positive self-image, and an intrinsic motivation to learn about the world around them.

SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS

The health, happiness, and wellbeing of our littlest learners comes first at Colegio Menor Samborondón Kindergarten and Early Childhood school.

Support services

We know that every child is a unique individual who matures and progresses at their own pace. As a result, we offer different types of support to help our learners hit key milestones, including social and emotional guidance from a professional psychologist and a Learning Specialist.

Learning support

Our Learning Specialist addresses any areas of difficulty a child may be experiencing, providing vital early intervention support. In some cases, children may need additional advice from an off-site expert to help them adapt to different learning styles or overcome challenges.

Counseling

Our dedicated DECE Department pays close attention to the development of our private Kindergarten students’ interpersonal skills, self-esteem, decision-making, and mindfulness. We also have a counselor who monitors and supports our students to gain the necessary social, emotional, learning, behavioral, and teamwork skills.

MINDFULNESS

Regular mindfulness sessions give our young learners the chance to reflect on their experiences, thoughts, feelings, and actions. Benefits include improved self-control, objectivity, flexibility, concentration, mental clarity, and emotional intelligence. Mindfulness also helps them relate to others with kindness, acceptance, and compassion.

Every week, our Early Childhood program students learn something new through our Mindful Schools curriculum. They also discover how to apply mindfulness principles in day-to-day situations. Our teachers reinforce good habits by reading books, planning games, and organizing activities that foster self-awareness and being present.

EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH LEARNING

Inspired by our liberal arts philosophy, we take a holistic approach to education at our Early Childhood school and private Kindergarten in Samborondón, Guayaquil. The youngest members of our community enjoy a variety of classes, including music, expressive movement, technology (using learning applications and software), visits to the library, cooking, and sensory exploration.

Students can also attend our after-school sports camp, Little Pumas Academy, where they can play soccer, dance, or take part in martial arts.
