THE ARTS AND CREATIVITY
Beginning in Early Childhood all the way through to High School, the arts are an important part of our curriculum. Our youngest students get exposure through many activities that help them learn creative skills. As they move on to the upper grades, they can choose their preferred music instrument, take Advanced Placement (AP) Art courses, and choose arts electives.

Every year, our High School students participate in local art, music, and theatre activities. They travel to different cities of Ecuador to present their work through art exhibitions and music performances.

Our theatre students prepare during the whole year to present an official “Broadway Jr.” show at the end of the term, at their local theatre, opened to the community. These experiences help our students learn the importance of showcasing their work widely, at the most advanced levels of creativity and excellence.

As part of our philosophy around “STEAM” at Colegio Menor, we provide our students with the best modern technologies to support their potential for innovation—that includes smart, original student projects that can truly help a need or problem, alongside best-in-class resources from MIT.

Our technologies and facilities include mobile digital labs, a sound recording lab (equipped with state-of-the-art instruments), a STEAM lab with 3D printers, a green room (for video recording or filmmaking), and robotics equipment within our robotics program.

Through our high-quality “STEAM”-powered learning experiences at Colegio Menor, our students are developing the purposeful abilities of tomorrow: creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. They are prepared to think big and become the leaders of the 21st century.

WELL-BEING AND RESILIENCE

OUR “WHOLE-CHILD” APPROACH

At Colegio Menor, we strongly believe in a “whole child” approach to education, so our students’ emotions and social skills are just as important as academic subjects. All our students perform “mindfulness” exercises during their school day, for example, which helps them with their concentration and improves calmness.

As part of our warm and supportive school community, our excellent counselling department provides personal guidance for the well-being and resilience of our students. Our specialists have the highest-quality resources and information for our students, parents, and teachers. We all grow together and because of this, 96% of our parents say their child is happy at Colegio Menor Samborondón.

PURPOSE-DRIVEN LEARNING

GIVING BACK TO HELP OTHERS

At Colegio Menor Samborondón, we follow our “Character Counts” program, where we reflect and act upon universal values as part of our everyday practices. These values guide your child through life’s challenges and choices, so they’ll build meaningful connections and perform acts of kindness everywhere they go.

Our students know they have many opportunities at Colegio Menor to make a positive difference in the communities around them. Our students that are part of the Junior National Honors Society (JNHS) and National Honors Society (NHS) lead many community service programs.

With the help of our Student Government and the support of our Menor community, our students are constantly fundraising and helping in events for important causes such as building new schools; preparing food baskets for the less fortunate; cleaning beaches; and participating in a plastic-recycling contest, among other things.
